Utility Trailers

Overview
Please read the following guidelines that control the parking of utility trailers on residential and commercial properties in Temple Terrace. These rules are necessary to keep our city safe and attractive for all residents. If you have any questions, email the Code Compliance Department at 813-506-6680.

Violation
City ordinances prohibit parking of non-commercial utility trailers in front yards and unscreened side or backyards.

Corrective Action
Remove the non-commercial utility trailer to an off-site storage area or relocate to a garage or screened side / backyard. Note that non-commercial trailers cannot be stored in open carports.

Section 25.760.10: Commercial Vehicle Restrictions in Residential Districts
  • (a) Except as provided in subsection
  • (b) … all commercial trailers, are prohibited from parking in any residential zoning district (street or lot)

Section 25.750.3: Recreational Vehicles, Boats & Trailers in Residential Zoning Districts
Recreational vehicles, boats (as defined in article II of this chapter) and all non-commercial trailers less than 15 feet in length may be parked in a residential zoning district (street or lot) only under the following conditions, otherwise, they are prohibited from residential zoning districts:
  • (c) All non-commercial trailers must be parked in a rear or side yard no closer than 5 feet to any property line and screened from view by a buffer not to exceed 7 feet in height; or parked within an enclosed garage.
