Temple Terrace Citizen Board Vacancies

Citizen boards serve as a vital link between the community of Temple Terrace and its elected officials. Members of all boards of the City of Temple Terrace must be residents of the city and remain residents of the city during their term of office. In addition to the city boards, citizens are appointed by the City Council to serve as the city’s representative on numerous intergovernmental boards and committees.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for appointment to the following Boards and Committees: 

The Mayor and City Council of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for one alternate member appointment to the Temple Terrace Historic Preservation Board.  Applications will be accepted from all residents; however, there will be emphasis on appointing member from the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, construction, archaeology, or other historic preservation disciplines.

 The Temple Terrace Historic Preservation Board was established for the purpose of historic and archaeological observation as delineated in Ordinance 1550 entitled "Historic Preservation." It is the City Council's intent that the Historic Preservation Board shall meet the requirements of the state and federal Certified Local Government program.

The closing date for receiving applications is 5:00 p.m. on November 8, 2023. Equal consideration will be given to persons submitting applications and persons recommended by members of City Council. 

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for appointment to the Hillsborough County Electrical Board of Adjustment, Appeals & Examiners. 

This seven-member Board meets quarterly in March, June, September, and December on the third Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in the Hillsborough County Center at 601 E. Kennedy Blvd.  The City of Temple Terrace appoints 1 regular voting member who MUST be a resident of the City, serve without remuneration; financial disclosure is required. The Board confirms the competency and integrity of applicants applying for electrical certification in the County, takes disciplinary action against contractors that fail to comply with the Electrical Code, and hears the appeal of any person issued a citation for violating the provisions of the Electrical Code.  In accordance with Florida Statutes, primary, but not exclusive, consideration for appointment to this Board will be given to persons who is an experienced State Certified Electrical Contractor.

The closing date for receiving applications is on the close of business at  5:00 p.m. on November 22, 2023, prior to the City Council meeting in which the appointment is to be decided. Equal consideration will be given to persons submitting applications and persons recommended by members of the City Council.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for one alternate member appointment to the Temple Terrace Municipal Code Enforcement Board. 

This seven-member Board meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 11250 N. 56th Street.  Members of this Board MUST be residents of the City, serve without remuneration, and financial disclosure is required. The Board issues orders, following a hearing, which have the force of law and set forth the steps necessary to bring a violation into compliance with a technical code or regulation of the City. In accordance with Florida Statutes, primary, but not exclusive, consideration for appointment to this Board will be given to persons who are experienced in the professional categories of architect, business, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor, or realtor.

The closing date for receiving applications is at 5:00 p.m. on November 22, 2023,  prior to the City Council meeting in which the appointment is to be decided.  Equal consideration will be given to persons submitting applications and persons recommended by members of the City Council. 

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for one regular member appointment to the Temple Terrace Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee. 

This five-member Board meets bi-monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 11250 N. 56th Street. Members of this advisory committee MUST be residents of the City, and serve without remuneration.  Financial disclosure is not required. This advisory committee is charged with making recommendations to the Mayor, City Council, and City administration on matters concerning bicycle and pedestrian activity within Temple Terrace.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for one alternate member appointment to the Temple Terrace Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for an appointment to the Hillsborough County Mechanical Board of Adjustment, Appeals and Examiners.  

This seven-member Board meets quarterly in March, June, September, and December on the third Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Hillsborough County Center at 601 E. Kennedy Blvd, Tampa, FL  33602.  An opening currently exists for either one Class “A” Air Conditioning Contractor and/or a Mechanical Contractor. The City of Temple Terrace appoints one regular voting member who MUST be a resident of the City, serve without remuneration; financial disclosure is required. This Board confirms the competency and integrity of applicants applying for mechanical certification in the County, and takes disciplinary action against those contractors that fail to comply with the Mechanical Code.

The closing date for receiving applications is on the close of business at 5:00 p.m. on November 22, 2023, prior to the City Council meeting in which the appointment is to be decided. Equal consideration will be given to persons submitting applications and persons recommended by members of the City Council.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for two alternate member appointments on the Temple Terrace River Watch Task Force.  

The Temple Terrace River Watch Task Force was established to better understand and ensure representation in decisions affecting the Hillsborough River. The Task Force's goal is to "preserve, protect, and enhance the Hillsborough River watershed, especially as it impacts the River's water quality and quantity in Temple Terrace." 

The closing date for receiving applications is on the close of business at 5:00 p.m. on November 22, 2023, prior to the City Council meeting in which the appointment is to be decided.  Equal consideration will be given to persons submitting applications and persons recommended by members of the City Council. 

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in serving as the City's representative on the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

The Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee is a 17-member body that reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and the three municipalities in Hillsborough County, on a comprehensive bikeway system, and other issues regarding the promotion of cycling and the provision of related safety facilities.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for one alternate member appointment to the Board of Adjustment.   This five-member Board meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 11250 N. 56th Street.  Members of this Board MUST be residents of the City, serve without remuneration, and financial disclosure is required. 

The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals when it is alleged that there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Director or administrative official in the administration and enforcement of the City’s Land Development Code.  The Board also authorizes variances from the provisions of sections specifically enumerated in Article VI of the Land Development Code, where the Board expressly finds that the applicant has demonstrated that a literal enforcement of the provisions will, in an individual case, result in undue and unnecessary hardship(s) and that the request ensures the public health, safety and general welfare are protected. Whenever possible in making appointments to this Board, the City Council shall seek a membership with diverse economic, geographic, social and occupational representation and when possible, include members qualified or experienced in the fields of archaeology, architecture, architectural history, business ownership, construction, engineering, history, landscaping, law, local government, planning and real estate. Appointments should be based on demonstrated experience and interest in the fields of zoning, building construction, historic preservation, and other relevant disciplines.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered to serve as the City's representative on the seven-member Hillsborough County Historical Advisory Council. 

The Council's mission is to support and facilitate a uniform historical marker program throughout the County, including the cities of Tampa, Plant City, and Temple Terrace as well as organizations and other agencies who request assistance.  It also provides the BOCC with support that complements the goals of historical preservation and education in Hillsborough County.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting application from citizens interested in being considered to serve as the City's representative on the Hillsborough County Plumbing and Gas Board of Adjustment, Appeals and Examiners.  Service on this board requires experience and knowledge in both plumbing and gas trades. 

The function of this board is to approve or deny the ability of applicants to take exams, to take disciplinary action against contractors, and to hear appeals or complaints against contractors. 

The closing date for receiving applications is at 5:00 p.m. on November 8, 2023, prior to the City Council meeting in which the appointment is to be decided.  Equal consideration will be given to persons submitting applications and persons recommended by members of City Council. 

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Temple Terrace are accepting applications from citizens interested in being considered for one regular member appointment to the Temple Terrace School Support Committee. 

This seven-member board meets the fourth Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 11250 N. 56th Street. Members of the Committee MUST be residents of the City and serve without remuneration. Financial Disclosure is not required.
